The difference between solvent and eco solvent printing

Solvent inks and eco solvent inks

The core of printing is the ink used, solvent ink and eco solvent ink, they are both solvent-based ink, but eco solvent ink is environmentally friendly.

Solvent ink

"Strong solvent" or "full solvent" ink is an oil-based solution containing pigments and resins. The high VOC (volatile organic compound) content requires ventilation and extraction to protect the printer operator, and many of them retain a distinctive lingering odor on PVC or other substrates that makes the image unsuitable for people to use indoors close enough to the sign to notice the odor.

Eco solvent ink

Eco solvent ink is derived from ether extracts of refined mineral oils and have relatively low VOC content by comparison, and can even be used in studio and office environments, provided there is adequate ventilation. They are virtually odorless, so they can often be used with interior graphics and signage. Their chemicals do not attack inkjet nozzles and components as strongly as strong solvents, so they do not require such constant cleaning.

Eco solvent inks allow printing in enclosed spaces without printing technicians risking inhaling the same dangerous fumes as full-strength conventional solvent inks; but don't let the title fool you into thinking this is an environmentally friendly ink. The term low-solvent or light-solvent is sometimes used to describe this ink type.

What are the benefits of eco solvent printing inks

Better print quality

New eco solvent inks for printing have become the latest choice for printers. Compared to solvent inks, these new weak solvent inks offer you some unusual benefits because they come with additional enhancements. These improvements to Eco solvent printing inks include faster drying times and a wider color gamut. The inks also have improved ink retention with better scratch and chemical resistance, so you get better print quality. With higher print speeds and more sophisticated media compatibility, these inks allow printers to run more smoothly while giving you better quality work.

Low cost of printing numbers

Eco solvent inks can also help you reduce the cost of printing digital, thus reducing the overall budget for such products. This happens because Eco solvent cartridges provide you with a better percentage of quality than the regular inks available in the market. Eco solvent inks can also help you print on low-cost PVC with standard paper backing. These inks are backed with a PE coating and also have the characteristics of paper-backed PVC compared to regular PVC.

Reduced print head wear

Some of the key benefits of these inks include reduced print head wear, which also helps extend the life of the printer. These weak solvent inks are also environmentally friendly and can be used to print high resolution and outdoor signage and can handle coated and uncoated surfaces well. With the durability and color vibrancy of the ink, the overall cost of printing is reduced.

Eco solvent inks do not produce any fumes

These Eco solvent inks do not produce harmful fumes and are ideal for billboards and other indoor signage. They are available in different ranges to suit your commercial printing needs. These inks have Eco solvent properties and therefore protect the environment, making them an Eco-friendly printing option and a more economical choice. There is also no requirement for ventilation systems as these inks do not produce any fumes. These Eco-friendly and Eco solvent inks have become the choice of a new generation who prioritize protecting the environment and ensuring cost reduction. These inks are more practically and economically viable than their expensive and environmentally harmful conventional counterparts.

Solvent printers and eco solvent printers

Solvent printers are mainly licensed format printers, while Eco-solvent printers are much smaller in size.

▷ Print speed

Solvent printers have much higher print speeds than Eco solvent printers.

▷ Print heads

Industrial print heads are mainly used for solvent printers, and Epson print heads are used for Eco solvent printers, including Epson DX4, DX5, DX6, and DX7.

Application of solvent printing and eco solvent printing

▷ Outdoor use of solvent printing

Solvent printing is mainly used for outdoor advertising, such as billboards, wallpaper, car stickers, etc.

▷ Indoor advertising with eco-friendly solvent printing

Eco-friendly solvent printing is mainly used for indoor advertising schemes, indoor banners, posters, wallpaper, floor graphics, retail POP, backlit displays, flexible banners, etc. These advertisements usually stand near people, so they need to be printed with fine details, high resolution, small ink dots and many print passes.

The process of making different types of inks

One of the most important, integral and indivisible factors in ink manufacturing is   the type of pigment used in the ink . Everything from the appearance of the ink to the characteristics of the ink to the way it lasts depends on the pigments used to color the ink. Therefore, when you want to know the right type of ink for your requirements, it is important to know the type of pigment used in the ink. With the wide variety of inks on the market, it can be difficult to know which ink is best for the purpose you have in mind. When it comes time to print, having a guide to pigments and inks makes it easier for people to make the right choice.   Water-based inks and their pigments. While inks have many uses and they represent many businesses, one of the most common commercial uses of ink is for printing paper. Copiers, printers, and other such printing devices utilize digital printing methods, and the inks used for these purposes are usually water-based inks. Experts such as pigm...

How to print DTF (direct to film) Sublimation step by step

Print images for sublimation on textiles, using a film and   DTF printing technique ! This is an introduction to a new printing technique called DTF printing also known as direct to film printing. This printing technique brings more possibilities to textile printing as it can be fully applied on dark color and light color fabrics such as nylon, polyester, cotton, canvas, leather, and others.  It is a method of sublimation of small designs whose results are in full color. The designs will have a very soft and smooth texture, they will be stretchable, and long-lasting because they will be resistant to washing.   The DTF print process requires: ● DTFprinter/ Epson L805 or Epson L1800 (They must be adapted) ●  DTF inks ● DTF powder ● DTF film  ● Special design software (ACRORIP, EKprint, Kothari RIP) ● Heat press The dtf film comes in two sizes: the A4 size, and the A3 size which allows you to print larger format images...

What is DTF Printing?

DTF printing is direct-to-film printing, which is a supplement to the inkjet garment decoration process. Even white ink does not require pretreatment. It is very convenient for customized DIY printing market. What is DTF? DTF is an alternative printing process for DTG. The film was printed using a specific type of water-based ink.It was then dried with powdered glue on the back and then heat cured for storage or immediate use. One of the benefits of DTF is that there is no need to use pretreatment. DTF cannot do this. The powdered glue does the job for you. After hot pressing, the soft water-based ink is transferred to the garment in about 15 seconds. Transfer is most suitable for polyester and other non-cotton fabrics that are difficult to print with traditional DTG printing. DTG is mainly designed for cotton garments printing. DTF is difficult to replace DTG for cotton printing. However, due to its low level of investment in its independent version or fully automated system for mass ...
