How do you know which ink to use for your printer?

Tank Dye Ink

If you are using a new printer for the first time, you may not be familiar with the type of cartridges your printer uses. Each printer uses a specific printer cartridge family for printing. The printer cartridge family is identified by the printer brand name and cartridge number.

1. The easiest way to determine which cartridges are appropriate for your printer is to turn on the printer and see which cartridges are currently in the machine.

2. If there are no cartridges inside the printer, you can search for the printer model on the manufacturer's website. The manufacturer's page for your printer should contain a list of compatible cartridges.

3. You can also refer to the printer user guide that came with your machine to identify the cartridge series.

Recognizing individual Cartridges for Epson

As you know, each type use individual cartridges for Epson printers , which means that each cartridge contains a specific color of ink. This is different from HP's three-color cartridges, which contain three colors of ink in one cartridge. Most printers require a set of black, cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges, but if you have a photo printer, you may need several additional cartridges, such as light cyan or light magenta. Essentially, each cartridge is a plastic can filled with ink. At the end of the cartridge, you'll find a gold chip that communicates with the printer to track ink levels so you know when it needs to be replaced. When the cartridge is installed in the printer, it works with the fixed print head inside the machine to print.

What sizes of cartridges for Epson are available?

Either standard print volume or high volume/XL cartridge sizes are available for Epson ink cartridges. Frequent users of the printer are better off printing with high yield cartridges. Because they are filled with more ink, they provide more prints and offer better long-term value. Standard cartridges are cheaper, but will run out of ink faster. No matter which size you use, the cartridges will fit in your printer in exactly the same way. In fact, the physical cartridge size is the same regardless of yield - the only difference is the amount of ink in the cartridge.
